On 16 September, Sonja Hövelmann and Ralf Südhoff met with Mechthild Heil, Chair of the Committee on Human Rights and Humanitarian Aid, and Norbert Maria Altenkamp, Spokesperson for the Committee, for a joint exchange.
The discussion focused on current challenges in humanitarian action, but also specifically on Germany’s dwindling humanitarian commitment and the debate on the concept of a ‘fair share’, which aims to ensure that the burden is shared equitably among donor countries and calculates that a contribution of at least 3 billion euros is appropriate for Germany.
