There is an urgent need to address the implications of major reductions in funding for the future of humanitarian action.
While there has been much talk in recent months, there has been little collective and strategic dialogue amongst donor governments to avoid a situation in which initiatives to reform or renew are fragmented, and donor representatives highlight a major demand for concrete reform proposals and guidance by actors such as thinktanks which do not follow an organisational interest or funding related rational.
Against this backdrop the humanitarian European thinktank network HuT with kind support of ECHO hosted a donor dialogue at EHF sidelines to discuss an outline of reform options and needs for a collective donor approach in the light of the upcoming challenges.
The event built on the donor dialogue co-hosted at EHF 2024 by ECHO and the HuT, with 13 donors attending on their Humanitarian Directors’ level.
