In an interview with WDR 5 Wirtschaftsmagazin on 13 February, Ralf Südhoff, Director of CHA, discussed the dramatic shift in German development policy brought about by the BMZ’s reform plans, its consequences, and the links between security policy and development cooperation.
Although the BMZ continues to talk about poverty reduction and has made it a stated goal, it is in reality withdrawing from many of the poorest countries and focusing on other regions instead. This has significant implications for development cooperation and emergency aid.
The interview was conducted in german.
