CHA becomes part of the Humanitarian Aid Coordinating Committee

As of next year, the Centre for Humanitarian Action (CHA) has officially been accepted as a guest member of the Humanitarian Aid Coordinating Committee (Koordinierungsausschuss Humanitäre Hilfe, KoA). CHA applied for membership in KoA in October 2020. The Committee justified its decision by referring to CHA’s significant role as a German think tank and its particular humanitarian expertise. We are pleased with the positive decision and look forward to the cooperation.

KoA is the official forum for discussion and coordination between the Federal Government, non-governmental organisations and other institutions related to humanitarian aid. Since its foundation in 1994, the Committee has met regularly. The overall aim of the exchange format between government and civil society, which is unique in Europe so far, is to improve humanitarian aid.

Guest members of KoA do not have voting rights, but can play a significant role in shaping the debates. Further information can be found here.

KoA meets once a quarter. The next meeting of KoA is expected to take place on 19 January 2021.
