CHA @ Bundestag – Five years Grand Bargain

CHA has been invited as an expert to the public hearing of the Committee on Human Rights and Humanitarian Aid at the German Bundestag on 3 March 2021. The topic of the hearing was

Five years World Humanitarian Summit and Grand Bargain.

The invitation to CHA was issued by the CDU/CSU fraction; other participants included the German NGO Welthungerhilfe, Doctors Without Borders (MSF), UNHCR, the World Food Programme (WFP) and the NGO network VOICE.

The event has been recorded and can be watched here (only in German):

A transcript of the meeting is available here [German].

The Grand Bargain and the related issues of the strategic capacity of German humanitarian aid, localisation and the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus (Triple Nexus) are CHA’s thematic and research priorities. Just last October, CHA hosted its annual international conference on the Triple Nexus and published a publication on the Nexus implementation. The CHAvocado model elaborated in the publication is intended to help aid organisations operationalise the Triple Nexus.

Two years ago, in March 2019, CHA was invited as an expert to the hearing of the Bundestag Committee on Human Rights and Humanitarian Aid and published a statement on German humanitarian aid as well as further comments in the course of the 150th anniversary of the Federal Foreign Office. The statement by CHA for the hearing on 3 March 2021 is going to be published as well, prior to the Grand Bargain conference that will take place on 11-12 May 2021.
